Shaq-A-licious Slams Packaging

Designing a New Way to Play Shaq-A-Licious SLAMS extended the award-winning Shaq-A-Licious platform into the rapidly growing multi-texture gummy segment, introducing an innovative candy experience designed to drive trial, repeat purchase and continued relevance. Building on the brand's core idea of "Big Kid Energy," the packaging design needed to instantly communicate the one-of-a-kind multi-texture experience while remaining rooted in the visual and emotional equities of the original Shaq-A-Licious platform. To solve this, the team developed the name SLAMS, leveraging an iconic basketball expression that embodied action, play and Shaq's larger-than-life personality. The packaging evolved the established Shaq-A-Licious design system through dynamic motion, dimensional product storytelling and a bold focus on the product's signature hoop-and-ball interaction, transforming a novel candy format into an intuitive play experience and turning the product's unique form into its most ownable visual asset. The resulting identity demonstrated the flexibility of the Shaq-A-Licious platform, successfully translating the brand into the multi-texture gummy segment while reinforcing its core promise: delivering extraordinary candy experiences from the mind of the world's biggest kid. Beyond packaging, the design system expanded into activation assets, creating a cohesive platform that brought the brand's playful spirit to life on shelf and in culture.
