American Package Design Awards 2026
Challenge: The natural bliss® brand held a strong position as the first U.S. dairy creamer with only four simple ingredients. However, evolving category norms and intensifying competition had made the brand less distinctive, resulting in natural bliss® being challenged by competitors who better showcased flavor appeal and variety, drowning out its unique position in a crowded market. Objectives: The redesign focused on two core goals: • Celebrate flavor discovery and sensory appeal while maintaining the brand's natural, quality promise • Translate the brand's promise of "Elevate the Ordinary" into visual form across all touchpoints Strategic Approach: The previous design communicated quality through minimalist restraint, but underutilized the visual storytelling potential of the brand's diverse flavor portfolio. Sterling transformed the visual language from stark white dominance to a rich, appetizing ingredient-inspired palette that brings each variant to life while maintaining intentional white space to reinforce both creaminess and quality. Design System: Central to the redesign is a cohesive system built on three pillars: • Color: A signature logo drop with rich, appetizing flavor gradients that guide the eye and enable instant flavor recognition across dairy, plant-based, and specialty tiers. • Graphics: A ripple system that anchors flavor groupings, creates visual variety, and communicates the elevation and discovery at the heart of the brand. • Imagery: Ingredient-focused photography and typography that work in concert to emphasize natural quality and sensory appeal. This modular framework adapts seamlessly across packaging formats while maintaining a consistently recognizable brand expression. The result is a design architecture flexible enough to welcome new flavors and formats without compromising brand integrity or consumer recognition.
