The Awards
What it costs to enter, when each program runs, how the work is judged, and what a win gets you. Everything in one place, in plain numbers.
Entries are $95 per piece for most programs; some categories run up to $120. Exact fees for the current season are shown at the entry platform before checkout. Those numbers reflect the fee schedules behind the 14,000+ past entries in our records.
There is no fee to publish a winning entry in the gallery, and claiming your work is free. Paid options, like magazine publication and Pro membership, are optional and priced up front.
See current fees at the entry platform →Each program runs once a year in a predictable window. Windows shift a little from season to season, so treat these as typical months; the exact open and close dates for the current season live on the entry platform.

Every entry is juried by the GDUSA editorial team together with invited practitioners: working designers, creative directors, and specialists in the discipline at hand. Work is judged on craft and effectiveness in its category, against the other work in that category.
Judging is blind to payment source. Jurors see the work, not the invoice; no paid option changes a score.
A win is a permanent record, not a certificate that expires.
A permanent page in the gallery. Your project gets a public, crawlable page in the archive, alongside sixty years of American design.
Named credits for the whole team. Every designer on the entry is credited by name and linked to a profile.
Computed achievement badges. Milestones, streaks, and category honors are derived from the archive itself; they cannot be bought.
The free claim. Verify the work is yours and you control the page, with a dofollow link to your site and an embeddable winner badge.
Optional magazine publication. Winners can choose publication in the GDUSA magazine, priced separately and shown at entry time.
