Clínica de Ojos Signage & Wayfinding System

Context: Outpatient surgery clinics operate under strict federal and medical regulations that govern zoning, access, and signage. ADA compliance is mandatory. Focus: How can a signage system be designed that meets regulations while creatively addressing the unique challenges that commercial options cannot? Process: The signage system combines two technologies: commercially manufactured aluminum signs and custom 3D-printed interventions to address unique needs. These include numerical identifiers for examination table and reception areas, a glow-in-the-dark fire extinguisher sign that also functions as an icon, and a three-dimensional graphic mural integrated into the reception area. Each solution arose from a specific problem that conventional methods could not solve. Outcome: A hybrid signage system that simultaneously addresses regulatory compliance and the unique challenges of an eye surgery clinic.
