Cisco Secure Cybersecurity Report Series
The Cisco Secure Cybersecurity Report Series was produced during my tenure as senior creative lead for Cisco's security marketing organization — a role I grew into over five years following the Lancope acquisition. I designed three of the four main reports in the series: the Security Outcomes Study, the CISO Benchmark Study, and Simplify to Secure. The Security Outcomes Study is the report I lead with. Published in December 2020, it was framed by Cisco as the evolution of everything that came before it — a research-driven publication surveying thousands of security professionals on what actually drives security outcomes in enterprise organizations. I established the creative template and direction the full series was built on. When I was on paternity leave, the team executed associated reports from that foundation. The work was submitted to GDUSA independently, post-engagement, and won the 59th Anniversary American Inhouse Design Award in the Annual & Corporate Reports category from nearly 7,000 entries.
Design Notes
The design challenge across this series was consistent: translate data-heavy security research into publications that feel authoritative without feeling impenetrable — for an audience that spans security practitioners, CISOs, and executive buyers simultaneously. The solution was a system built on restraint. Strong typographic hierarchy, purposeful use of color to organize data rather than decorate it, and data visualizations designed to surface insight rather than just display numbers. The Cisco Secure brand provided the visual framework; the design work was in making complex research feel navigable and credible at every level of reader engagement.
