MCAD is a strong regional and growing national leader in areas such as fine arts, graphic design, and comic art. The school offers degree, certificate and continuing education programs. Its student body includes more than 700 students from 29 states and 12 countries. Of these, 50% are enrolled in design, 25% in media arts, and 25% in fine arts; 40% are men and 60% are women; and the average student is 21 years old. The campus, which shares a block with the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, comprises classroom buildings, professional facilities, gallery spaces, student housing, artist studios and a sculpture garden. The modernist Main Building is one of the only projects in the U.S. designed by Pritzker Prize ‒ winning architect Kenzo Tange, and the historic Julia Morrison Memorial Building is just shy of 100 years old.
