
At the nation’s largest and most comprehensive design school, the Bachelor of Science in Design (BSD) in Graphic Design at The Design School at Arizona State University (ASU) empowers students to shape meaningful communication across media, culture and community.
Housed in The Design School within the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, this studio-based program blends foundation craft with forward-looking digital practice. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) with full-term accreditation, our program’s curriculum spans traditional and contemporary approaches to prepare students for a field that is constantly evolving.
Students begin by mastering core design principles — typography, layout, color and hand-making processes such as bookbinding and presentation craft. Advanced coursework expands into digital and motion design, branding, web and interface design, publication and interactive media. Throughout the program, students learn a strategic, research-driven design process and explore design solutions for local and global communities.
