ZIETE Disappearing Roots Disappearing Nature Posters

San Diego County is facing a crisis as urbanization threatens its rich biodiversity. Once home to diverse ecosystems, the region sees many native plants and animals displaced by development. To communicate this predicament, the County needed a visual out-of-home campaign, the tone of which was best suited for poster designs. We created a black and white photography project showcasing animals at risk across various regions of the country. Through these striking images, we highlight the urgent plight of endangered species and the habitats they rely on. The monochromatic tones evoke nostalgia, emphasizing these creatures' beauty while conveying the seriousness of their potential extinction. We aim to raise awareness and inspire action by illustrating the interconnectedness of all living things. Each photograph is accompanied by stories and facts about the species and their environments, fostering a deeper appreciation for biodiversity. Ultimately, this project serves as a heartfelt plea for conserving animal and plant life in our rapidly changing world. Our awareness and consciousness campaign achieved great success. We effectively communicated the urgent need to stop unnecessary and environmentally harmful urbanization. The public eagerly sought out and purchased these posters to display in their workplaces, schools, and homes.
