American Package Design Awards 2025
The Curly Vanity redefines hair care packaging with a chic, organized solution for curly-haired consumers.
For my Packaging Design class, I developed The Curly Vanity by Amika, a premium packaging concept designed for curly-haired consumers seeking a chic, organized solution for their hair care essentials. This curated vanity set features a selection of must-have products and accessories, including a styling cream, nourishing oil, curl mousse, hair scrunchy, pick, and satin bonnet. The package not only houses these items but also serves as a stylish storage unit that enhances the consumer's daily hair care routine. The Curly Vanity is a rigid, multi-compartment vanity box built from 3-ply chipboard, ensuring both strength and durability to hold the weight of the products inside. The design process involved extensive exploration of different methods to construct a box that was both sturdy and elegant. After several weeks of experimentation, I chose to build the box using a laser-cut machine to form a half-oval shape, which was then assembled with Zap-a-Gap glue to ensure a strong, permanent bond. The final box was wrapped with high-quality printed design elements, carefully selected to create a vibrant, positive aesthetic that resonates with curly-haired consumers.
