A new website for Restorative Housing fosters community engagement and highlights their mission of transforming lives through affordable hou
Assignment Design a website for the Restorative Housing Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming distressed waterfront properties into affordable housing while providing employment opportunities to formerly incarcerated New Yorkers. The site needed to effectively communicate Restorative Housing’s mission, showcase its projects, and encourage community engagement and donations. Approach We developed a user-friendly website that balances functionality with storytelling. The design emphasizes accessibility, offering clear navigation to information about Restorative Housing’s mission, ongoing projects, and ways to get involved. To reflect the organization’s ethos—where “we renovate lives, one home at a time”—we incorporated compelling visuals and narratives that highlight the impact of their work. Features like dynamic statistics (e.g., 17 formerly incarcerated individuals hired, 13 people housed through Section 8 vouchers, and $390,900 raised) provide tangible evidence of Restorative Housing’s success. Testimonials from residents and trainees add a personal touch, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to creating second chances. Results The website has become a central hub for Restorative Housing’s community, facilitating connections with partners, donors, and those seeking assistance. It effectively communicates the organization’s mission and impact, leading to increased engagement and support. The digital platform now supports Restorative Housing’s ongoing efforts to expand its reach, create more affordable housing, and offer more opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals to reintegrate into society.
