“the past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.” this book cover is a self-initiated redesign of 1984 and is designed as a visual reflection of the oppressive and distorted reality depicted in the novel. it is created by photographing an iron door, a symbol of restriction, with its circles, lines, and sharp corners representing the rigid constraints of the system. the fragmented typography and layered geometric forms mirror the regime’s rewriting of reality, emphasizing manipulation and control. the inflexible structure of the door underscores the oppressive nature of the dystopian world, while the dynamic layering heightens the sense of unease, drawing viewers into the tension that defines the narrative. all imagery is created from original photographs, not produced with digital effects.
