Narrative of the work: At the beginning of 2025, Equinix set out to bring one of the most critical—yet least visible— parts of the digital economy into public view. As demand for cloud, AI and data-intensive applications accelerated, many of the world’s primary metropolitan hubs began reaching capacity. Organizations were increasingly challenged to scale while still maintaining performance, regulatory compliance and operational continuity. Our objective was to help customers rethink how digital infrastructure could extend beyond the world’s most popular metros without introducing trade-offs. At the same time, the campaign played a broader role: introducing the Equinix brand to new audiences in public spaces, often for the very first time. Creative approach The core insight behind this campaign was simple: In a connected world, distance is no longer defined by geography alone. Through Equinix, locations that appear far apart—whether across regions, between cities or within a single expansive metro—can function as if they are virtually adjacent. We enable organizations to extend their digital footprint while maintaining the performance, connectivity and compliance they rely on. This campaign translated this idea of virtual proximity into a clear, visual language. Rather than positioning secondary locations as alternatives of last resort, the campaign reframed them as intentional, strategic extensions of existing digital ecosystems. Execution We built this campaign as a flexible, global design system capable of adapting to different markets, stories and business needs. We launched with city-to-city connections such as London–Manchester, Madrid–Barcelona, Sydney–Melbourne, Washington, D.C.–Culpeper, Rio de Janeiro–São Paulo, Kuala Lumpur–Singapore and Toronto–Montreal. We later expanded to include standalone metro stories, including Los Angeles, Milan, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Toronto and Montreal— demonstrating that digital distance can exist not only between cities but also within large, complex urban regions. Each market used a modular, multi-frame approach that allowed messaging to flex across themes such as resilience, ecosystem access, subsea connectivity, innovation and regional growth, while remaining visually and conceptually consistent worldwide. Visually, this campaign broke away from traditional transit or subway mapping conventions. Instead of emphasizing physical distance, the design system used interconnecting lines to represent negligible latency, collapsing geography and making digital proximity instantly understandable. The campaign was experienced from screen to street, across billboards, transit hubs, subway stations, taxis and high-visibility city-center locations. We placed the ideas of movement, access and connection directly into the environments where people live and work. Impact The Digital Corridor campaign strengthened Equinix’s brand presence across established and emerging tech hubs around the world, reinforcing the idea that infrastructure strategies do not need to be confined to oversaturated markets. For many viewers, this campaign marked their first interaction with the Equinix brand, making clarity, simplicity and visual storytelling essential. By translating complex infrastructure concepts into an intuitive and human narrative, this campaign helped position Equinix as the invisible force enabling performance, continuity and growth across regions. In doing so, the campaign made the unseen visible—showing how, in the age of interconnection, opportunity is often closer than it appears.
