Cultivata Capstone Thesis

The Story

Cultivata is a community gardening app developed to simplify the gardening experience by addressing the challenges that often deter beginners. The design integrates personalized growing tools, localized support, and a digital community to foster collaboration and make gardening more accessible. Through extensive research, including interviews and surveys, the project was informed by real user needs. The final deliverables included a digital platform alongside a physical installation, which featured CNC-machined phone mockups and a distribution system for over 2,000 seed packets, complemented by easy-to-follow growing guides. This project not only promotes community engagement but also earned MIAD’s Senior Thesis Award in 2025, showcasing a commitment to thoughtful and functional design.
