Houston Christian University Museum Update

Objectives: Museum design refresh; replacing/adding new graphics panels with information supporting the content in the museums. Scope items: Designed 18 wall mounted panels, 2 free standing panels, and 3 large-scale wall printed graphics for their Southern History Museum and American Architecture and Decorative Arts Museum using a document with content (text and photos) that they provided for each scope item. Challenge: The client sourcing extra high resolution photos for the large-scale prints (enough for 10ft high walls). Sally and I resampling original photos from the document to higher resolutions for better print quality. Taking a hands-on approach by helping the client decide in person the best placements for cases/items and panels, since supporting cases with items were being relocated. Meeting installation completion before students returned to classes in the fall. Innovative solutions: Balancing/distributing the museum's brand colors in the designs (Ex: using the green and dark blue for their Southern History Museum and using the pink and dark blue for their American Architecture and Decorative Arts Museum and all 3 colors for the History Timeline where the merging of both museums occurs in the space). Creating a cohesive layout that is interesting/eye-catching but also easy to read and understand and emphasizes the history/stories/context.
